After moving to the Midlands in 2022, my son, who has ASD, was placed in a SEN school. Unfortunately, the placement was not right for him and he became increasingly distressed and eventually stopped attending. Despite hoping a new placement would be found quickly, a year later he was still without a school place. During this time, he became increasingly withdrawn and reluctant to socialise or take part in activities.

When the Local Authority offered support through SEIN CIC, Emma and her team took the time to understand B’s individual needs. Through gentle assessment, consistent support and community-based learning, B gradually built relationships with staff and regained his confidence.

 

The difference has been significant. B is no longer as withdrawn, interacts more confidently with others and looks forward to seeing SEIN staff. The team has also supported his transition to his new school and worked proactively with the other agencies involved in his care.

The sessions have supported not only B but our whole family, giving me valuable time and reassurance knowing that he was happy and well supported.

 

I feel that B and I will be losing a support system that has made a real difference to us, and I worry about him losing some of the progress he has made.

 

I would like to say a huge thank you to Emma and the SEIN team for their passion, kindness, warmth and the wonderful support they have given B and our family.
